Start Writing Every Day For Real: How To Do It

Start Writing Every Day With A Little Help
Start Writing Every Day With A Different Strategy

How to start writing every day for real is the goal of every writer.

But while we all plan to start writing every day in our imaginations, the reality can be very different, as every writer already knows. Because something more pressing always comes up. And we keep putting off our daily writing habits, more so than we realize. For a few weeks or so, or maybe longer.

And then, when we do get the chance to sit down at the computer, we have nothing new to say. And it's not even writer's block or writer's procrastination. It's something different, and something we don't like to admit.

That our writing isn't good enough. That no one will read it. Because it doesn't say anything.

And usually, because we are so busy concentrating on how to be a better writer, we give ourselves a new form of writer's block. Having to word everything perfectly. Which is harder to overcome.

And this can happen even more quickly if it's your first time writing a book. You may think of this as a natural part of the steps to write a book, but it is not. And while how to start writing a book may come easily to you, finishing it is something you may not be able to do.

Also, while thinking about how to write a book in two weeks is unrealistic, it shouldn't have to take two years  either. So you have to figure out a strategy to make some progress every day. While you learn to write well.

That said, let’s look at three ways to start writing every day that will work for you.

#1. Start writing with prose that isn’t perfect, awe-inspiring, or overly intellectual.

Especially if it's your first time writing a book, stop figuring out how to be a better writer before you've published anything. And any writing advice from famous authors will tell you to write poorly every day. But write every day, no matter how poorly.  Because the main thing that famous writers on writing will tell you is that you have to write poorly before you can write well. And trying to phrase everything perfectly just freezes your creative side. Besides, if you don't write every day, you can't finish writing a novel in a week like you had planned.

Beside this,  many publishers and readers are looking for is what is called a “serviceable” writing style. In other words, writing that is simple, easy, and enjoyable to read. Conversational even.  So if you are writing a nonfiction book, concentrate on research, and presenting helpful information. If you are wondering how to start a novel, work on an engaging plot synopsis first.

Remember, a publisher has to sell your book to people who aren’t necessarily avid readers. So don’t feel like you have to write some wordy and complicated prose every day. No one wants to read that anyway. So make it easier on yourself and your potential readers by keeping it simple. This will also make it easier to start writing on a daily basis.

#2. Start writing a free blog about the same subject you are writing your book about.

Of course, you hear this all the time. But this is one of the best modern ways to become a better writer. And to start writing daily, your blog doesn’t necessarily need any followers. And you don’t need to talk about anything specific you are writing about in your book. You don’t even need to put your real name on it. But by writing and publishing your thoughts every day, you will get in the habit of writing, and that is all we are looking for here.

And learning how to start writing articles with a blog will also help you learn how to begin a book. Because it will help you learn what people want to read. It will also answer the question, "What should I write a book about?"  In fact, learning how to start writing an article with a blog is one of the easiest ways to become a writer from home these days.

Blogging advice for new authors: write badly every day. And just like the perfect prose, the prolific thoughts will come with daily practice.

#3. Start writing down your spontaneous ideas as you get them.

One of the most important steps to become a writer involves immersing yourself in the process. And becoming a good  writer means always having writing at the forefront of your mind. So one of the best tips for writing you can follow is to keep an old-school pocket notebook with you always. To jot down your ideas as you get them. Because there is nothing like sitting down at your computer and not being able to remember the perfectly-worded ideas you had at lunchtime. This is not how to begin a book. Or how to write a book in 3 days.

Nevertheless, having your daily notes handy to enter straight into your blog answers the question of "How do writers get started?" Because no matter what the notes are about, they will help you to start writing on a daily basis. Because there will be nothing to think about by the time you sit down to write.

And theses spontaneous notes, entered into anonymous blog, will free you from your writing inhibitions. This is similar to the process of how to start writing a journal, but less structured. Because not  writing in a journal every day (or online) can be the source of what causes writer's block.

Now you can start writing every day.

So instead, write down your thoughts as they come to you. No matter what they are. This is how to become a writer. And how to start writing on a daily basis.

In fact, your spontaneous notes may even take you on a completely different path to writing a bestseller than you ever imagined. And imagining a book beforehand in your head and then trying to write it perfectly is another cause of writer's block. Because you will never be able to do it.

And setting yourself up for this kind of failure is not one of the ways to become a better writer. It is one of those writing exercises that leaves you wondering, "Can I become a writer?"

So put aside that "Should I be a Writer" quiz and start creative writing like you are already a best-selling author. And start writing every day.

I know you can do it.
